Events calendar in Cork

The Festival operates out of the Cork Opera House, the Triskel Christchurch, and the Gate Cinema.

The Cork Film Festival runs 7-16 November in 2014. Submissions closed on 5th 2014 August.

Its log line is ‘Films. Music. Ideas’. As well as playing a rich selection of the best of contemporary world cinema, it has a lively and varied music on film programme, and a timely event series, which uses films to explore some of the burning issues of our time.

The Festival operates out of the Cork Opera House, the
Triskel Christchurch, and the Gate Cinema. In 2013 there were just over 100 events: 80 feature film presentations of which 25 were documentaries; 20 Shorts@CFF events
powered by new sponsor Vimeo; and ten Special Events.

Both the feature film and Shorts@CFF programmes were a mixture of invited (best of Festivals, work known to the
Fest, catch up on films released but which have not
played Cork, and previews and submitted films.

Shorts@CFF took place as a separate sub-Fest  and was a mixture of themed presentations of shorts; programmes of shorts competing for CorkShorts, Grand Prix International and Irish, a retrospectives of filmmaker Chris Shepherd; opening and closing parties and a Festival Club in the
Triskel presented by Vitaphonic; and a series of learning events. The Festival also saw the first presentation in
Ireland of Emerge, a three hour conference exploring the
intersection of technology and film.

Christmas Market Cork opens  every Friday, Saturday and Sunday each weekend from  28th November - 20th December 2015.

The Food and Crafts Market will include a number of festive food stalls, and a local crafts stall by Cork Craft & Design, with wood, jewellery, ceramic and print gifts. Cork’s famous food market, The English Market, is also just across the road and is the perfect spot to sip hot chocolate and pick up a range of gifts and Christmas nibbles....
